1. 22 Killed in Mass Shooting in Maine

A mass shooting occurred in Lewiston, Maine, United States. At least 22 people were killed in the shooting on Wednesday (25/10/2023) night local time.

City Councilman Robert McCarthy told CNN that the death toll rose to 22 in the shooting that took place at a bowling alley, as well as at least one other location, a local restaurant and bar.

The shooting was one of the deadliest since 2017, when a gunman opened fire at a crowded music festival in Las Vegas, killing around 60 people.

Police and rescue teams reportedly arrived at the Sparetime Recreation bowling alley around 7:15 p.m. local time in response to an active shooting. Afterward, there were reports of another shooting at Schemengees Bar & Grille, according to local newspaper Sun Journal.

At 8.15pm, another shooting was reported at the local Walmart distribution center.

3. Perpetrator Hunted

Local police are still hunting for the perpetrator who is still at large. The Lewiston Police Department, as reported by CNN, has identified Robert Card as the perpetrator of the Lewiston shooting.

The man is 40 years old and should be “considered armed and dangerous,” according to a Facebook post from the Lewiston Police Department. Law enforcement officials in Maine described Card as a certified firearms instructor and a member of the US Army Reserve.
